George was the son of George and Sarah Ann Davenport of Broxton. He was the husband of Lizzie, who lived in the family home “Ash View” Fir Tree Lane Littleton. He had two children George Cuthbert & Thomas Noel. He was a market gardener by trade and had lived and worked at Harthill near Tattenhall in 1911. He had not settled very long into Littleton when he was killed, acting as a stretcher bearer somewhere on the Ypres Salient. He is commemorated on UK Panel 22 on the Menin Gate, which indicates that his body was never found.
