Christleton Smithy around the turn of the Century

This picture shows Mr James Fleet and his workmen with a shire horseshoe on the anvil, some large wagon wheels, a single harrow and a penny farthing bicycle. At one time there was enough repair work for two blacksmiths’ workshops in the village; this one shown was at The Bottom of the Wood, and the other was on the bend near Little Heath Road where Smithy Cottage stands today.
